There is nothing like having an old-fashioned Christmas holiday season filled with memories and possibility of snow in the North Georgia Mountains in your very own log cabin. Imagine choosing your own fresh cut Christmas tree and having your family make hand-made decorations for it.

Whether you are planning a trip before the holidays to do some shopping in local specialty, antique, craft or outlet stores, visit one of the local tree farms to select and cut your Christmas Tree, ride the train to the North Pole on the Blue Ridge Railway or spend some romantic, relaxing time during the holiday season with loved ones this Georgia cabin offers the ideal location.

Celebrate the Christmas season in the quietude of the North Georgia Mountains.  Avoid the crowds and spend quality time in the Georgia Mountains.  Pick out your own Christmas tree and take it home.  Visit a Christmas tree maze, a living nativity, your choice of Christmas tree farms, take a sleigh hay ride with Santa at Amicalola Deer Park and take a ride to the North Pole on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railroad or the Tennessee Valley Railroad.  Enjoy the Christmas lights at Rock City.  To set the ambiance for the season, you may get lucky and see a snowflake or two.

Every year, the first weekend of December marks the beginning of the Olde Fashion Christmas celebration, which last the entire month of December.

Friday, November 30, the Square will be lit with hundreds of luminaries. The Kiwanis's sponsored event coincides with the Annual Gallery Walk, and the Merchant Open House. Merchants and galleries open their doors and welcome visitors and locals to enjoy music, refreshments, and the beautifully decorated public Square. The evening is highlighted with live entertainment when Emerald Rose performs their annual show at Cranberry Corners. Everyone is invited to participate in Olde Fashion Christmas.  Even Santa Claus will be there! It's a great time to begin your holiday shopping and eat out in a great restaurant.

On Saturday December 1, the festivities begin with a parade around the Square, and we're expecting it to be a wonderful celebration of the arts, music, Santa and the Chestatee Wildlife Refuge animals.

After the parade, the Annual Lighting of the Square takes place. This is when the magic of Christmas goes into full swing in the historic town. Thousands of white lights are simultaneously set aglow and the official beginning of the Christmas season is set into motion. "Once you've been there, you will not ever want to miss Christmas in Dahlonega.
